Good skin is not that hard to achieve when you know the right way to treat it. These simple rules will give you brighter, smoother and more clear skin.
#1: Keep Your Complexion Clean
This might sound simple, but actually involves several lifestyle changes. To prevent pesky breakouts from bacteria, try to avoid touching your face before washing your hands with soap. Also, remember to cleanse items that come into contact with your face consistently. For example, a good practice to follow is to wipe your mobile phone with an anti-bacterial wipe once a day.
#2: Scrub, Scrub, Scrub
Exfoliating isn’t just a more intensive way to cleanse. It also helps to remove stubborn dead skin cells that cause dullness and roughness. Adding this step to your routine once or twice a week will give you a brighter and smoother complexion fast.
#3: Up Your Sun Protection
Even the best of complexions can be marred by pesky dark spots. The best way to prevent them, using ample sunscreen. For out hot and humid weather, we would recommend SPF50/PA++++. Also, don’t forget to apply it at least 30 minutes before you go under the sun to allow the protecting ingredients to bind fully to the skin. And if you’re outdoors, try to reapply every two hours.
#4: Add In Some Acids
This is not as scary as it sounds. AHAs (e.g. glycolic, lactic, etc) and BHAs in skincare are actually great for your complexion. The former (e.g. salicylic) gently exfoliates to reveal smoother, plumper and more radiant skin while the latter deeply cleanses pores to prevent breakouts and are great for oily complexions.
#5: Don’t Overdo It
When it comes to skin, there can be too much of a good thing. Overtreating your skin can backfire and cause redness, sensitivity and roughness, leaving your complexion dull and patchy. So remember not to exfoliate more than twice a week (unless the product is extremely gentle and meant for daily use) or over-use acids. One type a day is best.
