It’s all in the hands…

Want to help keep your curls smooth, soft and snag-free? Remember to schedule in regular detangling. Don’t worry—the process doesn’t have to be painful or annoying! Here’s what you need to to read our guide to detangling your curls.

How often should you detangle?

Typically, you should detangle whenever you cleanse or conditioner your hair. With waves or curls, you should deal with knots at least once a week. However, if you have coiled, kinky coils, you may be able to go a week or two in between detangling sessions.

Types of Detangling:

There are different methods for every type of curl!

Lightly spritz your hair with water to soften your waves, then add a leave-in conditioner like Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition Curl Nourish Butter Cream Leave-in Treatment. Use your fingers to gently work out tangles.

Use a good conditioner with lots of slip like Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition Curl Nourish Conditioner, which softens curls with a blend of macadamia nut, jojoba and coconut oils. The flow of your shower can also help push out knots while you detangle with a shower comb or your fingers.

This method works best for kinky coils and curls. You can also dry detangle to remove big tangles before you wet-detangle with conditioner. First, saturate your hair with oil: Garnier Fructis Marvelous Oil Deep Nourish helps knots melt away with rich Brazil nut oil. Working in small sections, brush your curls.
